What a sad loss to all who knew him and to the world of traditional music. Willie was not only a very talented musician but he also made an enormous contribution to folk musicians far and wide. He generously encouraged so many, including my son, Martyn Bennett (1971-2005), who would stop in at Blackfriars on his way home from school to play tunes and try out new instruments.
