I feel lucky and privileged to have meet Willie when I did. As a new Irish expat in Edinburgh and Scotland I'd not made lots of Irish connections and took myself to the celebration of the Irish community in Scotland being held in Stock Bridge, Edinburgh. I noticed Willie and took the opportunity to say hello. I can say this was a significant moment in my life as an Irishman in Scotland. His enthusiasm and commitment to the community was the beacon of light I had been missing. Willie dropped by my flat for a chat a few days later, helped me get involved and made sure there was a warm welcome for me too. I'll never forget that meeting. Soon after I learned of his illness. There are few that have done what Willie did, I am honoured to have meet him, to learn of his tireless work and how many people he touched with his endless enthusiasm. Scotland, Ireland and the Irish diaspora worldwide have lost an Irish legend. A gentleman. A creative genius. I feel blessed to have meet him and sad that other Irish people will not get that same opportunity. Wishing you well Willie
